What is Plein Air?

Originally developed by French impressionists, “Plein Air” was created to introduce a new style of painting landscapes outside with their subject in full view capturing all the natural light, movement and changes through out the day.
With Asheville Plein Air you become the artist and create an original painting in an outdoor workshop under the guidance and instruction of a experienced local artist. Your original art will be a cherished memory that you take home showcasing the beauty of Asheville and the unique experience of Plein Air. These workshops are held on-site at select boutique hotels, bed and breakfasts, downtown locations, breweries, along the French Broad River or a customized special location. Plein Air is perfect for those who would like to experience something new and different whether visiting for the weekend, a romantic holiday, weddings, family reunions, corporate retreats, or anyone who simply wants to expand their artistic skills in new environments.
